The Misericordia University softball team swept SUNY Cobleskill, Tuesday afternoon at Anderson Field.

The Cougars won game one 16-1 (five innings) and won game two 11-2 (five innings).

Jordan Hoffman got the win in game one. She allowed five hits and struck out three over five innings.

Brooke Moyle went 2-2 with a double, five RBI, a walk and a run scored. Caitlin Kennedy went 1-1 with four RBI, a walk and two runs scored. Melanie Quintanilla went 2-2 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base, a walk and three runs scored. Abby Marzzacco went 3-3 with a walk, two RBI and three runs scored.

With Quintanilla on third and Marzzacco on second, Kennedy smacked a single into center in the bottom of the first to make it 2-0.

MU exploded for 14 runs in the second with eight hits. Highlights of the inning included Moyle smashing a double down the right field line with the bases loaded to make it 8-0. Quintanilla roped a two-run double down the left field line to make it 10-0. The inning ended with MU up 16-0

The Tigers scored their one run in the top of third to close the scoring at 16-1.

In game two, Moyle went 3-3 with a homer, a double, four RBI and two runs scored. Kennedy went 3-3 with a double, a RBI and two runs scored. Alexis D'Amico went 2-3 with a stolen base, a RBI and a run scored. Lori Brennan went 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Jessica Pluta went 1-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Taylor Kenerson went 1-2 with a RBI and a run scored.

Moyle picked up the win on the mound. She went five innings, allowed three hits and struck out six.

The Cougars scored their first two runs in the second. With two outs, Kennedy hit an infield single. Moyle blasted the first pitch she saw over the fence in left field to make it 2-0.

The Tigers scored two in the top of the third to tie things up at 2-2.

Brennan plated Quintanilla via a fielder's choice in the bottom of the third to give MU the lead back at 3-2.

MU scored eight runs on nine hits in the bottom of the fourth as their lead expanded all the way to 11-2.

MU is now 13-15 on the year. 

They will host Susquehanna, Thursday at 3:00.
