The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a pair of games to DeSales, 11-3 and 6-3, Saturday afternoon at Tambur Field.

In game one, Conor Smith went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Jeremy DeCotiis went 2-3 with an RBI and Parker Abate went 1-2.

The Bulldogs scored in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead. MU would score all three of their runs in the bottom of the first.

Kenny Jarema reached on a throwing error by the shortstop and got to second. Smith singled up the middle to tie things at 1-1. Two batters later, Santo Guinta singled to center and Smith went from first to third. DeCotiis singled through the right side to score Smith. Steve Weisensee reached on a fielder's choice as DeSales got DeCotiis out at second but the second baseman's throw went wide as they tried to turn the double play. Guinta scored to give MU a 3-1 lead.

DeSales had a huge second inning as they put up seven runs. They scored one more in the third and two more in sixth to take game one, 11-3.

In game two, Smith went 2-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Weisensee went 1-3 with two RBI. Abate and DeCotiis both went 1-3 with a stolen base.

Neither team scored until DeSales scored via a single to center which scored the runner from third. Smith caught the runner trying to steal second. Brett Davis tagged the runner and fired the ball back home as DeSales tried to steal home. Smith applied the tag as MU got out the inning down 1-0.

Davis reached on a throwing error by the short stop and got to second. Smith singled through the left side to score Davis and make it 1-1.

The Bulldogs scored again in the fifth to take a 2-1 lead.

Smith led off the bottom of the sixth with a single up the middle. Tyler Holzapfel walked on five pitches and DeCotiis grounded out to the pitcher which advanced both runners. Weisensee lined a single to center to score both runners and give MU a 3-2.

The Bulldogs scored four in the seventh to take a 6-3 lead and MU couldn't rally in the bottom half of the inning.

MU falls to 23-11 (13-5) and will play Rutgers-Camden, Sunday at 1:00.
