Misericordia University Director of Athletics Chuck Edkins has announced the department's partnership with Under Armour, effective July 1, 2017.
 
"We are thrilled to announce our agreement with Under Armour," said Edkins.  "They approached us based on our success within the Middle Atlantic Conferences, ECAC and NCAA Division III.  We believe it's an opportunity to enhance our department while promoting the Under Armour brand."
 
The agreement will lead to all 25 MU varsity teams utilizing Under Armour uniforms, equipment and apparel.  Battaglia's Sporting Goods will be Misericordia University Athletics exclusive supplier of all Under Armour products.   In addition, the agreement will allow MU to enhance the experience of its more than 500 student-athletes.
 
"The quality of a Misericordia student-athlete in terms of person, student, and athlete was extremely attractive to Under Armour," said Edkins.  "We are proud of the reputation of Misericordia athletics and look forward to this relationship benefitting each of our student-athletes."
 
Misericordia has consistently ranked near the top of the Middle Atlantic Conferences in the athletic arena and the classroom.  Nearly half of Misericordia's 526 student-athletes maintain a grade point average of 3.40 or above.
 
During the 2016-17 academic year, 11 of the 13 MU teams eligible for the post-season qualified for championship play.  The Cougars have claimed two conference championships and two NCAA berths while four teams will begin post-season play this week.
 
In addition, Juwan Petties-Jackson won an NCAA Indoor title in track & field while Reilly Wagner and Oniesha Clarke both earned All-America honors.
 
Misericordia student-athletes also compiled more than 2,300 hours of community service.
