Chris Fleming had four goals and an assist and Matt Beck made 13 saves to lift the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team to a hard-fought 13-10 win over FDU-Florham in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
The Cougars improved to 12-3 and will Eastern in the MAC Freedom title game, Saturday.
Pat DeMichele added three goals for the Cougars and
Brandon Winslow had two goals and an assist.
Kyle Reese had two assists and Pat Kellish,
Sean McSwiggan,
Michael Iglio and
Jake Kocovsky all added goals.
John Tierney had two caused turnovers and four ground balls and Fleming added four ground balls and one caused turnover.Â
Paul Hanrahan, Pat Kellish and
Alec Kellish all had four ground balls.
McSwiggan gave the Cougars an early lead with a rebound goal 3:30 into the game.
FDU-Florham tied with a man-up goal by Matt Melnik off a nice feed from Dalton Rimmer less than three minutes later.
DeMichele used a stutter step on the right flank and fired a shot inside the right post to give MU a 2-1 lead with 7:51 left in the first period.
He ripped a shot from the right win inside the far post for a 3-1 lead with 1:40 to go in the period.
Beck made a nice save on a hard shot from the right wing late in the closing seconds of the period.
Beck came up big again on tough shot on an FDU man-up opportunity early in the second quarter and followed with a save on a hard shot from the left wing with 12:20 to go in the quarter.
Kocovsky bounced a shot home for a 4-1 lead midway through the period.
The Devils' John Belanger whipped a low shot inside the far post from the right side with 6:30 to play before halftime.
DeMichele answered with an unassisted goal and Winslow scored a short-handed goal for a 6-2 lead late in the second period.

Fleming stuffed a shot inside the right post for a man-up goal and a 7-2 lead with 2:45 to go.
Rimmer found Michael Warg with a nice pass from behind the cage in the final minute of the half and Rimmer got the Devils within 7-4 with a goal five minutes into the second half.
Reese found Fleming on the move near the left post for an 8-4 lead with 6:47 to go in the third, but FDU answered less than 30 seconds later. The Devils added a man-up goal and trailed 8-6 after three periods.
Winslow bounced in a shot early in the fourth quarter, but FDU's Ty Tracey whipped a shot under the bar a minute later to get the Devils within 9-7.
Fleming ripped a shot with just under 10 minutes to go and then found Pat Kellish for a quick strike off the ensuing face-off for an 11-7 lead.
Fleming used a nice spin move and bounced a shot inside the far post to give the Cougars a 12-7 lead.
Iglio whipped a low shot inside from right post to put MU up 13-7 with 3:23 remaining.
The Devils scored three times in the final two minutes, including a short-handed goal and a man-up goal for the final margin.
The Cougars will host Eastern, Saturday at 7:00.
