Amber Hartranft scored early in the first half to lead the Misericordia University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over RIT, Sunday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Alex Gallagher assisted on the goal as the Cougars improved to 4-0-1.

Misericordia had a 10-7 edge in shots, including 4-1 on goal, and both teams had five corners.

Hartranft nearly helped give the Cougars a lead at 8:29 when she collected a loose ball on the left flank and found Hannah Larkin in front, but Larkin's shot caromed off the left post.

Gallagher lofted a ball across the box from the right wing and Hartranft's volley went inside the left post for a 1-0 lead at 16:58.

RIT's best chance of the game came in 58^th minute on a cross from the right side, but Lauren Anderson cleared the loose ball from the six yard line.

The Cougars had several dangerous opportunities in the second half.

In the 67^th minute, Gallagher beat a defender near the top of the box, but her shot was just wide left.

Two minutes later, Gabby Babula raced down the right side, but to the middle and beat a defender, but her shot was deflected over the bar.

Larkin's corner at 73:12 got between an RIT defender and the left post, but the Tigers' keeper was able to scoop up the loose ball.

Misericordia will host Lebanon Valley, Wednesday.
