The Misericordia University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Rutgers-Camden, Tuesday evening.
Bryson Smith scored for MU off a
John Caracappa corner kick in the second half.
The Scarlet Raptors took a 1-0 lead on a rebound goal at 6:12 and made it 2-0 on a deflection late in the first half.
MU got on the board in the 61
st minute when Caracappa sent a corner kick toward the far left post and Smith headed it home.
The Cougars nearly pulled even eight minutes later, but the Scarlet Raptors' keeper made a diving save on Caracappa's attempt.
Rutgers-Camden added an insurance goal at 73:34 and
Devin Marriott's header off a corner in the closing seconds was tipped over the crossbar.
Rutgers-Camden finished with a 16-11 advantage in shots and a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
Patrick Hoffman made five saves in goal for the Cougars.
The Cougars will visit Messiah Saturday.
