Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Eldridge, Campbell Lead MU Field Hockey Over Haverford

Colby Eldridge continued her hot scoring pace for the Misericordia University field hockey team in a 1-0 victory over Haverford, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Eldridge has been the only goal scorer for the Cougars in the last three games, tallying four goals in that span, and has five goals on the season.

Katelyn Campbell made four saves en route to her first shutout of the season.

Eldridge was able to get the Cougars on the board early in the second half, firing a shot on goal that was saved, but the ball bounced right back to her and she took another shot and this time the ball got past the keeper to give Misericordia the lead.

She had a couple of chances in the first half as well, with her best chance coming around the midway point.  She was on a breakaway with the just the goalie to beat, but she was taken down by a defender before getting a shot off.

In the second half, Haverford (6-3) had their best chance of the night to tie it up with about 21 minutes to go, but Elena Veale's shot went off the left post.

The Cougars had a couple chances to extend their lead but were unable to cash in. Off a penalty corner with 14 minutes to go, MU tried a give-and-go with Melanie Fry. She took the corner and got it right back near the net, but her shot went just wide.

Misericordia returns to MAC Freedom play when they go on the road to face Manhattanville, Saturday at 5 p.m.
