Despite a career-high 39 points from
Jason Kenny, the Misericordia University men's basketball team suffered its first MAC Freedom loss, 90-83, Saturday afternoon at DeSales.
Tony Harding added 14 points for the Cougars, who fell to 10-7 overall and 5-1 in league play.
The Cougars trailed 61-47 with 12:58 to play, but charged back to within 71-70.
Kenny hit a three-pointer to start a personal 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 63-56 and
Patrick Douthit added two three-pointers in a three-minute span to pull MU within a point with 5:45 remaining.
DeSales went back up by nine, 84-75, with 2:55 to play, but Kenny answered with six straight points to cut the margin to 84-81 with less than two minutes to go.
Misericordia trailed 86-83 on
Alec Rodway's two free throws with 1:09 left, but the Bulldogs scored the game's final four points.
MU used a 9-0 run to take its biggest lead of the game, 28-23, with 6:05 left in the first half. DeSales scored five straight points over the next two minutes to take a 30-29 lead and never trailed again.
The Cougars will host Wilkes, Wednesday.
