The #12 Misericordia University women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games with a 6-0 victory at Delaware Valley, Saturday.
The Cougars have outscored opponents 28-1 over the last five games with four consecutive shutouts. A total of 15 different players have scored during that stretch.
Ashley Edgell got the scoring started for Misericordia with two goals in the 12
th minute. Her first goal was from 15-yards out off an assist from
Jeanna Orfanos. Her second score occurred 20 seconds later on a tap-in following an
Evelyn Logie cross for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
In the 30
th minute,
Alexa Alchevsky tallied her second goal in three games on a header from five yards out following a
Kendall Pearage corner. Prior to this season, the senior back hadn't recorded a goal since the 2015 season.
After taking a 3-0 lead into halftime, the Cougars added on three more insurance goals in the second half.
Mackenzie Love found the back of the net for the second straight contest with a breakaway goal in the 65
th minute following a turnover in the box.
During the 83
rd minute,
Sara Lockwood scored her first collegiate goal on a shot from 20 yards out. Moments later, junior
Gabby Babula beat the Aggies' keeper to her left side on a penalty kick for her second career goal.
Misericordia outshot Delaware Valley 33-1 with a 20-0 shots on goal advantage.
The Cougars improve to 10-2-1 on the season with a 4-0 MAC Freedom mark. Misericordia will continue conference play on Tuesday at Wilkes in a battle of the MAC Freedom's only unbeaten teams.
