The Misericordia University women's volleyball team set a school record for wins in a season with a 3-1 victory at Immaculata, Thursday.
Tara Welliver had 15 kills and three aces and
Jassmine Watson had 14 kills and 21 digs as the Cougars won their fifth straight match to improve to 20-9.
Jessica Oltman had 11 kills and four blocks and
Karley May had 49 assists and four aces.
Kaitlin Wheeler added 21 digs and
Alexa Monro had 18.
After Immaculata scored four straight points to break a 21-21 tie to win the first set, the Cougars took the next three sets, 25-16, 25-12, 25-20.
The Cougars used a 4-0 run to take a 12-7 lead in the second set and took advantage of three IU errors to score six straight points to stretch the lead to 20-10.
The Mighty Macs closed within 20-16, but Welliver answered with three kills as part of a 5-0 spurt to end a 25-16 win.
MU jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third set and stretched it to 16-8 on kills by Watson, Oltman and Welliver.
Amanda Curcio had two kills and a block to key a 5-0 run to end the set and give MU a 25-12 win.
Tied 11-11 in the fourth set, May's ace and kills by Watson and Oltman fueled a 7-1 run that gave MU an 18-12 lead.
The Cougars will travel to Penn State Harrisburg for a tri-match with Rutgers-Camden, Saturday.
