The Misericordia University women's team closed out its MAC Freedom schedule with a 3-0 win over Wilkes, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.

After rallying from a 23-19 deficit to win the first set, 26-24, the Cougars took the next two 25-15, 25-20.

Jassmine Watson led the Cougars with 10 kills, seven digs and two blocks while Tara Welliver had eight kills and four aces.

Amanda Curcio had seven kills and two blocks and Sarah Pool added six aces and six digs.

Karley May had 29 assists and Jessica Oltman had four blocks.

In the first set, kills by Oltman and Watson got the Cougars within 24-23.

Curcio and Oltman teamed for a block on the right side to pull even and a block by Oltman and Watson on the opposite side gave the Cougars a 25-24 lead.

MU closed out the 26-24 on a Wilkes' attack error.

Pool had six aces to key a 9-0 run as the Cougars took control of the second set, 22-10.

Watson's smash in the back left corner and Oltman's kill down the right side made it 24-14 and the set ended on a Wilkes' service error.

In the third set, Welliver had three aces to fuel a 6-0 spurt to put MU up 15-9.

Back-to-back kills by Curcio made it 19-12 and Watson had consecutive kills to stretch the lead to 24-16.

Misericordia won its eighth straight to improve to 23-9 and 5-2 in the MAC Freedom.
