The Misericordia University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-18) decision at Eastern in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday.
Tara Welliver had four kills to set new school single-season record with 356 and added three aces.
Jessica Oltman had eight kills and three blocks and
Sarah Pool added six kills.
Karley May had 19 assists and eight digs and
Jassmine Watson added eight digs.
The Cougars had their 10-match win streak snapped to fall to 25-10.
Watson, Oltman and
Amanda Curcio had kills as the Cougars took a 4-3 lead in the opening set, but the Eagles scored nine straight points to take a 16-5 lead.
An ace by Welliver and two kills by Oltman pulled MU within 17-10, but they never got any closer as Eastern took the opener 25-16.
Oltman had a kill and teamed with Watson on a block to open the second set and
Alexa Monro's ace combined with two Eastern errors gave the Cougars a 5-1 lead.
Eastern went on a 9-1 run to erase a 6-4 deficit and take a 13-7 lead.
Back-to-back kills by Oltman and Curcio got the Cougars within 18-15, but Eastern answered with six straight points.
MU scored four straight points to take a 10-7 lead in the third set, but Eastern answered with a 7-2 run to take a 14-12 lead.
The Eagles pulled away with a 6-0 spurt to stretch their lead to 22-15.
