The #14 Misericordia University women's soccer team continued its recent hot streak with a 6-0 win against King's College, Saturday on Homecoming.
Six different players scored for the Cougars, including
Jeanna Orfanos, who netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season. It was the third consecutive game where Misericordia scored five or more goals – outscoring opponents 16-1 over that stretch.
Alexa Alchevsky got the scoring started early when she volleyed a service from
Hannah Larkin into the right side of the goal in the third minute. It was the senior back's third career goal and her first since October 24, 2015 against FDU-Florham.
Nearly a minute later,
Hannah Larkin scored off an assist from
Kaylee Sturans after a dummy run by Orfanos. It was the senior midfielder's first goal of the season.
In the 14
th minute,
Evelyn Logie scored on a rip from 30 yards out for her first goal of the season. Moments later,
Ashley Edgell added another score on a touch pass from Larkin and
Michaela Fasolino. It was the senior's third goal of the season.
Orfanos closed out the first half with one more goal in the 36
th minute to give the Cougars a 5-0 advantage heading into the half.
Kendall Pearage and
Emma Przyhocki provided the assists.
In the 63
rd minute,
Shestan Lynam closed out the night with her first collegiate goal.
Devyn Anderson assisted the play with a beautiful cross from the right side.
Alexis Benedetto made one save for her second consecutive shutout and fifth of the season. The Cougars outshot the Monarchs 25-3 with a 16-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Misericordia improves to 8-2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the MAC Freedom. The Cougars continue conference play on Wednesday when they host Eastern at 7:00.
