FDU-Florham used a big fourth quarter for a come-from-behind 79-62 win over Misericordia University in a MAC Freedom semifinal, Wednesday.
Rachel Carmody led the Cougars with a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and
Japriya Carroll added 13 points.
Paige Wampole had 10 points and eight rebounds and
Kalynn Sefcik added seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Cougars led 48-47 after three quarters, but the five-time defending MAC Freedom champion Devils took control of the game with a 32-14 fourth quarter.
Misericordia, 16-10, went toe-to-toe with the five-time defending conference champions as neither team led by more than six points over the first 30 minutes.
Wampole scored six points in the first quarter to keep MU within three points, 15-12, after one period.
Jackie Hajec opened the second quarter with a three-pointer and Carroll followed with a layup to put MU ahead, 17-15.
The Devils took their biggest lead of the first half, 24-18, but Carmody answered with back-to-back jumpers for MU.
A three-pointer from Carmody and a
Jordan Barth layup gave the Cougars a 27-26 lead midway through the second quarter.
Sefcik drilled a three-pointer with less than a minute to play and Carmody added a free throw as the Cougars took a 37-34 halftime lead.
The teams traded baskets and the lead throughout the third quarter and Carroll ended the stanza with a free throw and a 48-47 MU advantage.
The Devils opened the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run and stretched the lead to 66-52 with a 10-0 run with 4:47 to play.
