The Misericordia University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Alvernia, Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.
Caleb Bauder had seven kills to lead MU while
Bailey Brugler had 13 assists and two blocks.
Michael Mohutsky had five digs while
Kaden Abreu and
Caleb Bauder had four each and
Michael Trygar had four kills.
Alvernia rallied to beat MU in a five-set thriller a month ago in reading, but didn't any heroics tonight.
The Crusaders grabbed a 5-0 lead in the first set and stretched to 12-3 before closing a 25-9 win with a 6-0 run.
The second set was competitive as a kill by Bauder and ace by
Ryan Miller pulled the Cougars even, 7-7.
Trailing 19-13, the Cougars scored four straight points with Trygar sandwiching a pair of kills around kills by Brugler and Bauder to get within 19-17.
But, the Crusaders responded with a 6-2 run to close a 25-19 win.
In the finale, kills by Bauder and Miller combined with an Alvernia error got MU within 6-5.
Alvernia used a 5-0 run to build a 16-8 lead.
An ace by Mohutsky pulled the within 20-13, but Alvernia scored five straight points to close out the match.
Misericordia will travel to Stevenson, Saturday.
