The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back on the way to a 17-7 win, Tuesday afternoon at Lycoming.
Olivia Garcia scored four goals and
Kaila Quinlivan had three goals, two assists, four groundballs and four draw controls.
Lexee Willey had three goals and an assist and
Sarah Bender added two goals and two assists.
Emily Connell had two goals, an assist and four draw controls while Bri Ladner had six groundballs and three draw controls.
Tori Hodges made six saves in 56 minutes and grabbed three ground balls.
Amy Roth gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead off a feed from Willey nearly 12 minutes into the game.
Connell and Quinlivan scored 30 seconds apart to make it 3-0 with 12:57 left in the first half.
Connell made it 4-0 at 10:16 and Willey and Bender scored less than a minute apart for a 6-0 advantage with 8:20 to go.
Garcia scored a minute later before Lycoming got on the board with 6:46 remaining in the first half.
Willey answered with two quick goals as the MU went up 9-1 with 5:03 to go.
After a Lycoming tally, Garcia ended the first half with three goals over the final 3:40 as the Cougars built a 12-2 lead.
Ashley Hobbs and
Faith Sinclair added second-half goals as the Cougars stretched their lead to 17-4 before Lycoming scored three times over the final five minutes.
The Cougars improved to 4-4 and will visit Arcadia, Saturday.
