The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a tough 3-2 decision at Stevens, Wednesday night.
Tyler Holzapfel and
Santo Guinta drove in runs for the Cougars while
Kenny Jarema and
Parker Abate both had a hit and scored a run.
Jake Kurtz was the tough-luck loser as he allowed just four hits and two earned runs over seven innings.
After Stevens broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, MU answered with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth.
Jarema singled through the right side with one out and moved to second on Abate's bunt single. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and Holzapfel grounded an RBI-single
through the right side. Guinta's squeeze bunt scored Abate with the tying run.
The Ducks took advantage of a two-out error to score the eventual winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Cougars will host Manhattanville in the first game of a three-game series, Friday at 3:30.
