The Misericordia University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader at Keystone, 14-11, 10-0, Tuesday.
The Cougars belted four homers in the opener and turned a triple play in the nightcap to improve to 18-14.
In game one,
Ciara DeLong,
Kiersten Pflueger,
Lori Brennan and
Brooke Moyle all hit homers.
Holder had four hits and two RBI and Pflueger drove in four runs on two hits while
Maddie Holub added three hits and two RBI.
Victoria Schmidt struck out seven over 6.2 innings to earn the win.
In the nightcap, the Cougars thwarted an early Keystone rally with a triple play.
Brennan homered again and Butera had three hits. Jessica McDonough had two hits and two RBI and DeLong and Boyle both had two hits.
Moyle allowed just two hits over four innings to earn the win.
DeLong opened the day with a solo homer and the Cougars added seven runs in the third inning.
Holub reached on a bunt single and eventually scored on Butera's two-out single. Holder doubled down the left field line and Pflueger followed with a two-run single to right center.
McDonough singled and Brennan followed with a three-run homer down the left field line and Moyle added a solo shot to left center.
The Cougars plated four more runs in the sixth.
Schmidt reached on an error and moved up on Holub's single. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and scored on Holder's two-out single to center.
Pflueger followed with a two-run homer to left center for a 12-8 lead.
Keystone got within a run in the sixth, but the Cougars added two insurance runs in the seventh.
Moyle singled and moved to third on Schmidt's double to center and both runners came home on Holub's single to center.
In the nightcap, Keystone had runners at the corners with no outs in the second inning, but the Cougars thwarted the rally with a 5-3-2-5 triple play.
The Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. DeLong and Butera singled and Holder was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Pflueger drove in a run on a fielder's choice and McDonough singled in a run and Brennan made it 3-0 on an infield error.
The Cougars made it 5-0 in the third when McDonough doubled and Brennan blasted an opposite field homer to right.
MU got three more in the fourth on sacrifice flies by DeLong and McDonough and an RBI-double by Pflueger.
Dani Clifford drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the fifth and
Carson Mahoney made it 10-0 with an RBI-double down the right field line.
The Cougars will visit Susquehanna, Thursday.
