The Misericordia University women's soccer team defeated SUNY Oneonta 1-0 in its season opener, Friday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kendall Pearage was responsible for the game's lone goal.
Pearage found the back of the net in the 16
th minute off a pass from
Jordyn Martini. The first-year midfielder connected for her first collegiate goal when her shot from 15 yards out deflected off the keeper's hands.Â
The Cougars put on a stellar defensive performance with
Alexis Benedetto making one save to record her first career shutout.
Misericordia outshot the Red Dragon's 19-8 and recorded 10 shots on goal.
The Cougars are 1-0 and will host Susquehanna University on Tuesday at 7:00.
