The Misericordia University women's volleyball team swept a pair of matches at the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic, Saturday.

MU beat Alfred, 3-1, and Cairn, 3-0, to improve to 9-3.

In the opener,
Sarah Pool had 13 kills and 14 digs and
Jassmine Watson had 11 kills and 13 digs.Â
Karley May added 40 assists, 12 digs and three aces.

Against Cairn,
Tara Welliver had 11 kills and four aces and Pool added 10 kills and 12 digs.

May had 38 assists and seven digs and
Kaitlin Wheeler had 11 digs.

After Alfred scored seven straight points to take an 8-7 lead in the opening set, the Cougars answered with six straight of their own to go back in front.

Pool had two kills to give MU a 13-8 lead.

Watson had two kills as the Cougars stretched their lead to 23-17.

Alfred rallied to get within 23-22, but Watson's kill and
Emily Lunny's ace clinched a 25-22 win for MU.

Jessica Oltman both had two kills as the Cougars opened a 9-2 lead in the third set.

After falling behind 12-5 in the fourth set, the Cougars scored four straight points to cap a rally and take a 20-18 lead.

Against Cairn, Welliver and Poll had two kills each as part of a 6-0 run as the Cougars took a 15-8 lead.

Watson sandwiched two kills around a pair of Welliver aces to stretch the lead to 22-11 and
Alexa Santoro closed the 25-16 win with a kill.

The Cougars used an 11-2 run to break a 7-7 tie in the second set and used a 3-0 run to end a 25-19 win.

MU scored six straight points to grab an early 8-2 lead in the finale and went on to win, 25-19.
