The Misericordia University field hockey team suffered another close loss, 2-1, at Oneonta, Wednesday evening.

Mikayla Cavenas her first collegiate goal off a corner late in the second half with an assist from Madisyn Granoski.

Misericordia had an 11-9 advantage in shots and an 11-4 edge in corners.

Katelyn Campbell made four saves for MU.

After a scoreless first half, the Red Dragons used a rebound goal to take a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half.

Oneonta added an insurance goal eight minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.

MU earned four consecutive corners in a 90-second span late in the second with Cavenas cutting the deficit in half with just under six minutes remaining.

The Cougars two more corners and two more shots in the closing minutes, but get the tying goal.

The Cougars will host Manhattanville in their MAC Freedom opener, Saturday.
