The Misericordia University women's basketball road a big game from their reserves to a 72-39 win over FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon in the Anderson Center.
Emma Hayes led the Cougars with 15 points as the MU bench outscored the Devils bench, 42-2.
Tessa Zamolyi added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars.
Leanne Forsyth added eight points, six rebounds and three assists as the Cougars improved to 17-1 overall and 6-1 in the MAC Freedom.
Tied 14-14, the Cougars went ahead for good with an 8-0 run over the final 1:53 of the first period.
Forsyth hit a deep jumper from just inside the arc to ignite the run.
Following two free throws by Zamolyi, Hayes sank a pull-up jumper off the glass from the right baseline and Forsyth drained another long jumper from the right baseline to beat the buzzer.
The Devils opened the second quarter with a bucket, but were held scoreless for the next six minutes as the Cougars pulled away.
Zamolyi's jumper in the lane and Carmody's jumper from the left baseline gave MU a 26-16 lead and the Cougars maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Forsyth followed with a put back and Zamolyi scored with a feed from
Japriya Carroll off a loose ball to make it 30-14 with 3:48 to play in the first half.
Carroll and
Liz Waleski drilled three-pointers from the left corner and Carroll converted a steal into a layup to end the half with MU leading 38-22.
The Cougars maintained control throughout the third period and stretched the lead to 62-32 on Nora Tracy's layup at the buzzer.
Misericordia took its biggest lead of the game, 68-32, off a rebound and a jumper by Waleski.
MU will host DeSales, Monday at 6:00.
