The Misericordia University field hockey team defeated Immaculata, 1-0 in overtime, Monday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kortney McEwen scored the game-winner early in the extra session off a pass from
Tori Carsley.
Katelyn Campbell made a big save in the final minute of the first half to earn the shutout.
Madisyn Granoski nearly got the Cougars on the board with a shot in front of the cage just 1:44 into the game, but was denied.
Neither team managed a shot for the remainder of the first quarter.
Campbell lunged to her right to clear an Immaculata shot late in the first half to preserve the shutout.
Kayla Pogash had a shot from the top of the circle in the opening minute of the fourth quarter and had a rip from the left side off a corner midway through the final period, but both attempts were saved.
In overtime, Carsley carried the ball down the left side before sending a pass to McEwen, who dribbled into the circle and beat the goalie from five yards out.
The Cougars improved to 8-7 and will return to MAC Freedom action when they host FDU-Florham, Saturday at 1:00.
