The Misericordia University field hockey team dropped a tough 3-2 decision to FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kyleigh Knell and
Jenna Whitman scored for the Cougars while
Kayla Pogash and
Allie Bianco had assists.
Katelyn Campbell made seven saves in goal.
Tori Carsley nearly got the Cougars on the board at 2:28 when her tipped shot went just right of the cage.
Pogash sent a pass across the goal mouth just 20 seconds later and Knell tipped it inside the left post for a 1-0 lead.
The Devils answered two minutes later and took a 2-1 early in the second half.
Down 2-1, Carsley nearly pulled MU even when her blast from the left flank off a corner was deflected just wide of the cage.
After the Devils added an insurance goal, Whitman got the Cougars back within a goal when she ripped a shot from near the top off the circle and a perfect insert off the corner from Bianco.
The Cougars are 8-8 overall and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom and will host Eastern, Wednesday.
