The Misericordia University women's soccer team opened its MAC Freedom schedule with a tough 1-0 loss to Stevens, Saturday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

The Ducks scored the only goal of the game in the 88^th minute.

Misericordia held a 16-13 edge in shots and had a 10-5 advantage in corners.

Alexis Benedetto made three saves in goal.

In the opening minute, Benedetto came off her line to win the ball off the foot of a Stevens forward at the top of the box.

MU threatened in the third minute when Kendall Pearage server from the right flank, but Jordyn Martini's shot from the top of box was just wide right.

Zoee Farr nearly put the Cougars in front in the 36^th minute, but her header was stopped by a diving save near the right post.

Michaela Fasolino followed with a blast from 25 yards out just a minute later, but the Ducks keeper was in position.

Kate Field gathered a loose ball at the top of the box, but her shot was just high in the 66^th minute.

Madelyn Uetz served a ball from the right win and Devyn Anderson flicked it from in front, but her shot was denied in the 68^th minute.

Benedetto made a big save on a blast in the 75^th minute, but the Ducks finally got on the board with less than two minutes to play.

MU is 4-4-2 and will travel to FDU-Florham, Saturday.
