The Misericordia University women's volleyball season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to NYU in the ECAC Championship semifinals, Sunday at Marywood.
The Cougars fell 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 to end the season at 22-18.
Faith Merritt led the Cougars with nine kills and eight digs.
Karley May closed her career with 24 assists and four aces while
Tara Welliver had seven kills in her career finale.
Fiona Pyfer added seven kills.
Pyfer's kill capped a 4-1 run to give the Cougars a 10-7 lead in the opening set, but NYU used an 11-2 spurt to take a 21-14 lead.
In the second set, Pyfer sandwiched two kills around a kill by
Amanda Curcio to give MU a 16-15 lead.
The Cougars took a 19-17 lead on a kill by Merritt, but the Violets scored eight of the next nine points to win 25-20.
Misericordia fell behind 6-1 in the third set, but used a late 5-1 run to get within 23-18.
May had an ace and
Jessica Oltman closed the run with a kill, but NYU scored the next two points to clinch the match.
