Maegan Allspach recorded a hat trick to lead the Misericordia University women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over DeSales, Saturday afternoon as the Cougars clinched the second seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament.
Jeanna Orfanos shot was saved, Allspach pounced on the loose ball and placed a shot inside the left post form six yards out to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 12
th minute.
Jordyn Martini nearly made it 2-0 when she carried down the left side, cut back to the middle and ripped a shot from the top of the box that sailed just over the crossbar in the 26
th minute.
Just two minutes later,
Emma Przyhocki served a ball on a re-start from yards out and
Devyn Anderson's volley was just wide of the right post.
DeSales knotted the score on a corner with three seconds remaining in the first half.
Allspach put the Cougars back in front in the 52
nd minute when she stripped a defender in the box and slotted a shot past the keeper.
Martini served a ball from the left end line and Allspach's one-timer from 12 yards out gave the Cougars an insurance goal in the 81
st minute.
Misericordia will host DeSales in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Tuesday.
