The Misericordia University women's basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with a 93-41 win at Valley Forge, Friday.
Tessa Zamolyi scored a career-high 31 points while tying a school record with 14 field goals and grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.
Nora Tracey added 14 points and
Gianna Delfino had 10 rebounds in her collegiate debut.
Hailey Loughlin and
Alyssa Bondi both scored eight points in their first career game and classmate
Elizabeth Fasti grabbed nine rebounds.
Leading 13-9 midway through the first quarter, the Cougars used a 13-0 run to take a 26-9 lead with 1:56 remaining.
Erica Haefele made a three-pointer to start the run and
Alyssa Bondi added a three-pointer to close the sport while Zamolyi made a pair of baskets in between.
Haefele and Bondi made back-to-back three-pointers early in the second quarter to ignite a 12-0 spurt as the Cougars took a 42-14 lead.
Morgan Haefele made a pair of free throws to close the first half scoring with MU up, 52-16.
The Cougars will play at Gwynedd Mercy, Saturday afternoon.
