Despite a double-double from Noah Rivera, the Misericordia University men's basketball team fell at Marywood, 89-79, Saturday afternoon.
Rivera led the Cougars with 28 points and 14 rebounds and Tony Harding added a 15 point and nine rebound performance. Â Nate Kreitzer tallied 15 points and five assists.
Rivera scored the first basket of the game with a nice jumper in the paint and then scored on a layup to give MU the lead in the opening minutes.
The Pacers rallied to take a double digit lead until Misericordia cut the lead down to seven, 47-40, at the end of the half.
Harding cut the deficit to nine with six minutes to go in the first with a three pointer, to put the score at 37-28.
Kreitzer dished one to Patrick Douthit on a fast break and he converted a three-point play to get the Cougars within 39-36, but the Pacers closed the half on an 8-4 run.
Kreitzer's layup gave the Cougars a 50-49 lead three minutes into the second half and Harding's layup made it 52-49.
There were seven lead changes in the second half but the Cougars came up short in the closing minutes due to a 9-0 run by the Pacers.
