Men’s Volleyball Falls to #13 Arcadia

The Misericordia University men's volleyball team fell to #13 Arcadia University, 3-0, Tuesday at the Anderson Center.

First-year standout Jason Campbell led the way for the Cougars with a season-best nine kills while recording a .211 hitting percentage. The outside hitter also recorded a season-high in blocks with two assisted blocks.

Ryan Miller finished second on the team in kills with eight. The sophomore posted a .235 hitting percentage with three digs, one assist and a block.

Jordan Spidle was the Cougars assist leader with a game-high 23 while Conner Westerfield led the way with nine digs.

The Knight's controlled most of the first set with a 25-17 win. Arcadia got off to a fast start with seven unanswered points, but the Cougars attempted to fight back with a 7-1 rally towards the end of the set.

The Cougars claimed their first lead early in the second set when Caleb Bauder gave his squad a 5-4 advantage with a service ace. Misericordia was able to stay within striking distance for the majority of the set, but Arcadia was eventually able to put the Cougars away with a 4-1 stretch to end the second stanza.

Misericordia gained much-needed momentum early in the third set as they jumped out to a 5-1 advantage. First-year standout Billy Murphy helped spark the rally with two kills while Campbell added a service ace.

Arcadia eventually battled back and reclaimed the lead midway through the set until Misericordia ran off a 7-1 rally, which gave the squad a 21-19 advantage. Miller helped kick-start the run with a kill and a service ace while Arcadia committed four errors.

After a Campbell kill gave the Cougars a 22-20 lead, Arcadia ran off four unanswered points and put Misericordia away in three sets.

Misericordia will host Eastern and #7 Stevenson, Friday at the Anderson Center.
