MU Women Hosting Manhattanville in MAC Freedom Semi

The Misericordia University women's basketball team will host Manhattanville in a MAC Freedom semifinal, Thursday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Center.

The Cougars are 21-4 and tied a school record for wins in a season while finishing second in the MAC Freedom at 10-4.

Manhattanville, 17-7, is seeded third after finishing 8-6 in league play.

DeSales, 23-2, went 14-0 in conference to earn the top seed and will host fourth-seeded King's in the other semi.

The winners will meet in Saturday's championship game with an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament at stake.

The Cougars are making their third consecutive postseason appearance under third-year head coach Jason Rhine and are seeking their first trip to the title game since winning it all in 2012.

Misericordia split a pair of games with Manhattanville during the regular season, including a 72-61 win in the Anderson Center.  The Cougars fell on the road earlier this month, 61-58.

Senior 1,000-point scorers Japriya Carroll (14.3 ppg) and Rachel Carmody (11.9 ppg) lead of trio of double digit scorers for MU.  Sophomore Tessa Zamolyi adds 11.2 ppg.

Carmody has a team-high 9.1 rebounds while Paige Wampole and Jordan Barth add 7.7 and 6.2 rebounds per game, respectively.

Carroll is 11th in the MAC Freedom in scoring while Carmody is fourth in rebounding and Wampole is sixth. 

Carroll is second in the league with 2.0 three-pointers per game and in three-point field goal percentage (37.0).  Zamolyi (46.1) and Carmody (44.2) both rank in the top-10 in field goal percentage and Wampole is second in the league with 1.6 blocked shots per game.

Manhattanville's Kayleah McGuire is fourth in the league in scoring with 16.2 ppg while teammate Sarah Coutu is ninth at 14.2 ppg.

McGuire is ninth in rebounding with 6.8 rpg and is tops in the league with a 50.7 field goal percentage.

Manhattanville's Spencer Shore (34.5) and Coutu (32.0) both rank in the top six in three-point percentage while Coutu is fourth in assists and steals.

Misericordia is second in the league in scoring (72.3 ppg) and defense (54.3 ppg) while Manhattanville is fourth in scoring (69.7 ppg) and third in defense (57.1 ppg).

The Valiants are second in field goal percentage (40.7) while MU is second in field goal percentage defense (32.6).

MU tops the conference in every rebounding statistic, including 50.9 rebounds per game and a 13.5 rebound margin.
