The Misericordia University softball split a non-conference doubleheader for the second straight day, Monday at Muhlenberg.  The Cougars took the opener, 10-8, in eight innings and dropped the nightcap, 4-1.

Kiersten Pflueger hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs in the opener and Maddie Holub had three hits and two RBI.

Amanda Bohn added three hits.

Jessica Oltman allowed just three unearned runs in 4.2 innings of relief to earn the win.

In game two, Amanda Butera tripled and scored and Maddie Holub drove in MU's lone run.

Muhlenberg took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the opener, but the Cougars went in front with three runs in the third.

After Muhlenberg scored four in the bottom of the fourth, MU got two back in the top of the fifth.

The Mules regained the lead with two in the bottom of the fifth and the Cougars tied it with two in the top of the sixth.

Ciara DeLong led off the third with a walk and pinch-runner Hailley Brown went to third on Holub's double to right center.

Pflueger drove in a run with a fielder's choice with both runners moving up a base.  After Pflueger stole second, Bohn put the Cougars ahead with an infield single.  Brianna Holder made it 3-1 with a two-out single to center.

Down 5-3, the Cougars tied it in the fifth.

Holub led off with a triple and scored on Pflueger's homer to left field.

MU rallied again in the top of the sixth.  Jess McDonough led off with a single and went to second on Butera's one-out single through the left side.  McDonough later scored when Holub reached on an error and Butera came home with the tying run on Pflueger's ground out.

The Cougars went ahead for good with three runs in the eighth.  DeLong singled through the right side to score Oltman, who started the inning second base and moved to third on McDonough's sac bunt.

Butera walked and Holub doubled to right center to drive in a pair of runs to give the Cougars a 10-7 lead.

The Cougars are 11-5 and will return to MAC Freedom action when they host FDU-Florham, Saturday.
