The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team picked up its first MAC Freedom win of the season with a 10-7 victory at FDU-Florham, Wednesday night.
Nick Torzilli had three goals and an assist to lead the Cougars and
Patrick Luzzi added two goals and an assist.
Robert Wagner had a goal and two assists and
Sean McSwiggan scored twice.
Matt Beck made nine saves in goal and
Garrett Heidecker was 12-for-14 on face-offs and grabbed a team-high six ground balls.
Torzilli gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, but the Devils scored three straight goals, included a man-up tally, to take a 3-1 lead early in the second quarter.
Luzzi got MU within a goal with 11:08 left in the second period and Hanrahan tied it nearly eight minutes later.
FDU-Florham went back in front with 2:13 remaining in the first half and McSwiggan and Torzilli both scored over the final 1:26 to put MU in front, 5-4.
The teams traded goals throughout the third quarter and the Cougars led 8-6 with 15:00 to go.
Brandon Winslow scored with 12:26 to play and McSwiggan closed out the scoring with 9:08 to play.
