The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader at Manhattanville, Saturday.
After dropping the opener, 8-0 in five innings, the Cougars handed the Valiants their first league loss, 6-2, in the nightcap.
Miranda Bohn and
Jessie McDonough had MU's only hits in game one.
Ciara DeLong,
Maddie Holub and
Brianna Holder all homered in the nightcap to make a winner of Bohn, who scattered eight hits over seven innings.
The Valiants broke open a scoreless game with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth in the opener.
After Manhattanville took a 1-0 lead in the second inning in the nightcap, the Cougars used the long ball to in front in the top of the fifth.
Danielle Heulitt singled with one out and scored on Holder's two-out homer to left. DeLong made it back-to-back homers to give the Cougars a 3-1 lead.
Holub led off the sixth with a walk and scored a combination of two errors and a single by Bohn. McDonough's sacrifice fly made it 5-1.
Manhattanville got a run back in the sixth, but Holub answered with a solo homer in the top of the seventh.
The Cougars are 22-10 (7-3) and will host King's, Thursday.
