The Misericordia University softball team dropped a doubleheader at DeSales, 6-5, 13-8, Saturday.
Miranda Bohn had three hits in the opener and
Ciara DeLong,
Maddie Holub and Jess McDonough all had two hits.
In the nightcap,
Brooke Moyle had two hits and two RBI and Holub,
Kiersten Pflueger and
Megan Murphy all had two hits.
The Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning of the opener. Bohn led off with a double down the right field line and later scored on McDonough's two-out single to center. McDonough scored when
Brianna Holder reached on an error. DeLong followed with a double to right center to make it 3-0.
Holub doubled to lead off the third inning and scored on
Brooke Moyle's two-out single through the left side to make it 4-0.
DeSales scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and the Cougars got one back in the top of the sixth to take a 5-3 lead. McDonough led off with an infield single and eventually scored on
Amanda Butera's single to right field.
The Bulldogs rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the winning margin.
DeSales picked up where they left off in the nightcap as they scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Cougars took advantage of three DeSales errors to get five runs back in the third.
After DeSales went up 10-5 in their half of the third, the Cougars got three more in the fifth. Moyle's bases-loaded double drove in two runs and Holder had an RBI-ground out.
Misericordia is 19-9 overall and 6-2 in the MAC Freedom.
The Cougars will visit Lycoming, Thursday.
