Kyle Melahn set a new school record with his 12
th career save as the Misericordia University baseball team edged Gwynedd Mercy, 3-2, Monday.

Steve Weisensee and
Shane Hughes both had three hits and
Conor Smith added two hits as the Cougars improved to 20-8.

Snyder struck out four and allowed just one run in six innings of work.
Â
Melahn entered the game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh and induced a grounder to end the threat. He retired all seven batters he faced to end the game.

The Cougars scored in each of the first three innings.

Kenny Jarema and
Parker Abated opened the game with back-to-back walks and Weisensee singled to load the bases before Jarema came home on an error for the game's first run.

Hughes led off the second inning with a single and moved up on Smith's single. Following a sacrifice bunt, Hughes scored on a wild pitch to give MU a 2-1 lead.

Misericordia added an insurance run in the third. Weisensee singled and took second on a wild pitch before scoring on
Billy Kerwien's two-out single to center.
