The Misericordia University men's soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 win over Clarks Summit University, Friday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Levi Roberts scored the lone goal of the game late in the first half off a feed from
John Caracappa.
Roberts headed home the serve from just outside the box on the right flank on a re-start at 34:46.
Patrick Hoffman made two saves to earn the shutout.
Cody Rogers had three dangerous opportunities early in the match for the Cougars, including a blast off the right post less than two minutes in.
Roberts played a long ball over the top that found Rogers in stride, but his strike caromed off the left post at 7:53.
Rogers had a one-timer in front of the net just four minutes later that found the Defender's keeper.
Max Gariano came off the bench midway through the opening period and had three shots in a four-minute span before Roberts finally got MU on the board.
The Cougars will visit Immaculata, Sunday.
