The Misericordia University women's soccer team improved to 3-0 with a 4-1 win over Kean, Friday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Devyn Anderson had a goal and an assist while
Kendall Pearage,
Jordyn Martini and
Kenzi Pfeifer all added goals.
Jeanna Orfanos had three assists for MU.
Misericordia took an early lead when Anderson collected a loose ball at the top of the box and played a ball to Orfanos on the left flank where she one-touched back to the middle and Pearage tapped into an empty net at 10:30.
MU made it 2-0 less than three minutes later when Orfanos played a ball across the box to a charging Martini who buried a shot inside the right post at 13:21.
Kean cut the lead in half with their lone goal with just under five minutes remaining in the first half.
After two attempts from
Kaylee Sturans were just off the mark early the second half, Anderson bent a shot from 15 yards out on the right flank, but it was saved near the right post.
MU got the goal back on Anderson's next attempt when she buried a feed from Orfanos inside the right post for a 3-1 lead at 58:06.
Martini's blast from the top of the box in the 69
th sailed just over the bar.
Pfeifer entered the game at 81:49 and added an insurance goal less than 20 seconds later.
She gathered a loose ball off a deflection near the top of the box and placed a left-footed strike inside the left post from 25 yards out for a 4-1 lead at 82:05.
MU held a 21-6 edge in shots and had seven corners while allowing just one.
With the win, MU head coach Stauffer improved to 275-105-23 in his 20th season as head coach.
The Cougars will host Farmingdale, Sunday at 2:00.
