Box Score 2 The Misericordia University women's volleyball team finished off a two-day sweep at the Rowan Invitational with wins over Rowan, 3-1, and Widener, 3-2, Saturday.
Against Rowan,
Fiona Pyfer led the cougars with 13 kills while
Amanda Curcio and
Tara Welliver had 10 and nine, respectively.
Faith Merritt had five aces and eight digs and
Karley May had 38 assists.
Alexa Monro had 17 digs.
The Cougars took the opener, 26-24, before dropping the second set, 25-11. MU closed out the match with 25-15 and 25-22 wins.
Welliver had 20 kills and four blocks against Widener while Curcio had 17 kills, three aces and three blocks.
Pyfer had 11 kills and
Karley May had 53 assists.
Widener took the first set, 25-18, but MU took the second set, 25-22.
Widener went ahead with a 27-25 win the third set, but Cougars answered with a 25-20 win to force a fifth set.
MU took the finale, 18-16, to clinch its fourth straight win.
Welliver and Merritt were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Cougars will host Marywood and Penn College in a tri-match, Wednesday.
