The Misericordia University women's basketball team defeated FDU-Florham, 73-48, Saturday afternoon. Tessa Zamolyi and Jordan Barth had double-doubles to lead 13 players in the scoring column as the Cougars improved to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in MAC Freedom play.
Zamolyi led the team with 13 points, 11 rebounds and three assists while Barth added 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Alyssa Bondi came up big off the bench to add 10 points and Gianna Delfino added nine points and 10 rebounds.
Down 8-5, the Cougars quickly regained the lead courtesy of a Zamolyi layup and a Bondi three- pointer in front of the Devils bench to take a 10-8 lead.
Emma Hayes converted a three-point play off a nice feed from Delfino to stretch the lead to 19-10 with 3:00 remaining in the first quarter.
Bondi got things going again early in the second quarter with a three from the right wing off a pass from Zamolyi.
Zamolyi nailed a pull-up jumper from the free throw line to close out the half to extend the advantage to 50-21.
The Cougars maintained a 20-point lead for the remainder of the game with the largest margin coming off a Nora Tracey pull up jumper to give MU a 63-31 lead.
Misericordia will travel to Delaware Valley, Wednesday at 8 p.m. for a MAC Freedom match-up.
