The Misericordia University men's volleyball team kicked off their 2020 campaign with a split at the Cougar Kickoff Classic, Friday.
The Cougars lost the opener to St. Joe's (LI), 3-1, and defeated Sage, 3-0.
Ryan Miller led the team with 12 kills and 13 digs in the opener while Billy Murphy added nine kills and two blocks.Â
Brian Ross tallied eight kills and Matt Lavin had eight kills and two aces.
Dylan Sellitti racked up 38 assists and two blocks and Conner Westerfield had 11 digs.
Misericordia took the first set, 25-23, but lost the second set, 25-18, the third 25-19 and the final match by a score of 25-16.
The Cougars battled in the first set against Sage, 25-23, but pulled away in the next two sets, winning 25-20 and 25-18.
Miller racked up 15 kills, one block and five digs and Murphy added eight kills three blocks and an ace.
Ross ended up with five kills and three aces while Lavin had six kills. Sellitti finished the match with 31 assists and two blocks and Westerfield had a team high seven digs.
Misericordia will face Lasell at 11 a.m. and Randolph-Macon at 3 p.m., Saturday.​
