The Misericordia women's basketball team won its MAC Freedom opener, 74-41 against Wilkes University on Wednesday evening at the Anderson Center.

Jordan Barth led the way for the Cougars with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

Tessa Zamolyi had 10 points while
Gianna Delfino added seven points and five steals.

The Cougars had 40 points in the paint and outrebounded the Colonels 60-39.

Wilkes grabbed an early 3-0 lead, but
Erica Haefele responded with a three-pointer of her own on the Cougars' first offensive possession.

MU went 3-3 on the first three offensive possessions with threes by Haefele and Barth and a layup by Zamolyi.

The Cougars led 18-12 after the first quarter and went on a 32-4 dominant run in the second aided by Barth's nine points.

Barth had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the first half.

MU led by as much as 41 and had 12 players score in the contest.

The Cougars improved to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play and will host FDU-Florham, Saturday at 1:00.
