The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 with a 19-5 win over Marywood, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Nick Torzilli led the Cougars with four goals and three assists while
Robert Wagner scored five goals and
Patrick Luzzi added two goals and three assists.
Conner Entwistle had two goals and two assists and
Ryan Vandenberg and
Dominick Falleni both scored twice.
Bryan DeGennaro made eight saves to earn the win and
Chris Straub made one save in relief.
Garrett Heidecker was 13-25 on face offs and had seven ground balls while Wagner added six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Luzzi had four ground balls and three caused turnovers and
Spencer Sundeberg and
Nick Caprio had three caused turnovers each.
Paul Hanrahan gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game and Torzilli scored three straight goals in a four-minute span to make it 4-0 with 6:32 left in the first quarter.
Wagner scored with 3:01 to go in the first period and made it 6-0 early in the second quarter.
Marywood got within 8-4 late in the second period, but
Allen Thomas scored with :07 remaining to give the Cougars a 9-4 halftime lead.
Misericordia used a 7-0 third quarter to put the game away.
The Cougars will play Clark in Clearwater, FL, Monday.
