The Misericordia baseball team erupted for a 16-4 win over the series finale against Mitchell College Monday afternoon in Port Charlotte, FL.
Sean Lyons carried the team going 3-5 at the plate with four RBI and was a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Sean Austin Miles went 3-4 with two RBI and Sean Boylan had two hits and three RBI.
Issac Snyder scattered eight hits over six innings while allowing two runs to earn his first win of the year.
MU surged ahead in the fourth inning, putting up seven runs on seven hits.
Dalton Emerich kicked things off with a bunt and Billy Kerwein singled to left center. Miles roped a double to the left field wall to score Emerich and give the Cougars a 3-2 lead.
Boylan followed suit and doubled over the left fielder's head to plate two runners.
Lyons connected drove a fastball over the left centerfield to put MU up, 7-2. Shane Hughes singled to right field and brought another run across.
In the fifth inning, Lyons drilled a ball to the wall and hustled around the bases for a triple that scored Joe Liscio and Miles.
Misericordia tacked on runs in three of the last four final innings to seal the win.
The Cougars will be back in action, Tuesday at noon for a doubleheader against Bluffton.
