The Misericordia University men's soccer team made the most of its opportunities in a 1-0 win at Lycoming, Tuesday afternoon.
Â
The Cougars managed just one shot on goal, but
Josh Spangenberg made it count as he scored the only goal of the game off a re-start in the seventh minute.
Â
Following a Lycoming foul,
Alexei King took a free kick from just outside the box, and Spangenberg finished from in front of the goal to put MU ahead at 6:50.
Â
Andrew Daubenspeck made seven saves in goal to post his seventh shutout.
Â
The teams entered the match locked in a four-way tie for first place in the MAC Freedom. The Cougars improved to 10-2 overall and moved into sole possession of first place at 4-1 in league play. King's and Wilkes will meet in a match between two 3-1 teams later Tuesday.
Â
MU will travel to FDU-Florham, Saturday.
