The Misericordia field hockey team defeated Arcadia, 3-2, Saturday at McGeehan Field to improve to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Darya McDevitt scored two goals and
Mikayla Cavenas had a goal and an assist.
Olivia Gretz made five saves in goal.
In the first minute of play, Gretz made a save and was assisted by a great defensive save to keep the match scoreless.Â
Anna Effinger received the inbound pass from a corner and found Cavenas to the left of the goal to give MU a 1-0 lead at 7:53.Arcadia tied the score less than two minutes later.
MU had a huge defensive stand early in the third period with Gretz making two saves and the defense blocking two shots in a four-minute span.
The Knights took a 2-1 lead with less than five minutes to play in the third quarter, but McDevitt pulled the Cougars even one minute later.  Cavenas caused a turnover and brought the ball up in transition and found McDevitt for a wide-open shot.Â
McDevitt added her second goal with six minutes remaining with an assist from
Morgan Walsh off a corner. Â
Gretz sealed the match with a save after an Arcadia corner attempt. Â
Misericordia will host Juniata, Tuesday at 7:00 at McGeehan Field. Â Â
