The Misericordia men's soccer team is heading to the postseason after taking down DeSales, 1-0, Wednesday. The Cougars clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom Championships and improved 11-3 overall and moved into three-way tie for first place at 5-2 in conference play.
Logan Moore scored the lone goal of the match midway through the first half.
Trent Wall took a free kick from just outside the box and made a swift pass to Moore while the defense was adjusting and Moore's right foot tapped the game-winner into the right side of net at 35:47.
Andrew Daubenspeck made a season-high eight saves and recorded his eighth shutout.
Daubenspeck had a huge defensive stand and made three saves within a five-minute span in the first half.
Daubenspeck made two saves on back-to-back plays in the 65
th minute to keep the Bulldogs scoreless.
Drew Weaver took a shot from the right side of the box that just missed giving MU an insurance goal in the 54
th minute.
The Cougars ended the regular season with an 8-1 mark at Mangelsdorf Field.
Misericordia will travel to King's for the regular-season finale, Saturday at 3:30. The Cougars and Monarchs are locked in a three-way tie with Arcadia for first place in the MAC Freedom.
