Madison Posivak scored a pair of goals to lift the Misericordia University field hockey team to a 3-1 win over FDU-Florham, Friday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Lily Metress added a goal and
Mikayla Cavenas had an assist as the Cougars won their sixth straight game to improve to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Olivia Gretz made four saves in goal for the Cougars.
After several early opportunities, Metress put MU in front when she tapped a centering pass from Cavenas along the right end line with less than three minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Cougars continued to carry the play throughout the second period and entered halftime with just one shot allowed.
Posivak dribbled through the middle of the circle and beat the Devils keeper and slotted a goal into the left side of the cage for a 2-0 lead just 4:33 into the third period.
FDU-Florham got a goal back on a corner just five minutes later.
MU regained a two-goal margin when Posivak converted a penalty stroke midway through the fourth quarter.
