The Misericordia University women's basketball team opened the season with a convincing 63-37 win at Lebanon Valley, Tuesday.
Meaghan McCaffrey had 10 points and eight rebounds and
Melina Santacroce added 10 points to lead the Cougars.
Gianna Delfino had six points and tied for the team-high with eight rebounds.
Alyssa Bondi's three-pointer broke a 4-4 tie midway through the first quarter and the Cougars never looked back as they took a 13-8 lead after one period.
McCaffrey scored four straight points and
Skylar Dowling closed the period with a layup.
MU used a dominant 16-4 second quarter to take a 29-12 lead at halftime.
Santacroce scored six points in less than two minutes and Bondi added a three-pointer to give MU a 38-17 lead with 6:28 left in the third quarter.
The Cougars took advantage of their 52-33 rebounding edge to outscore Leb Val, 21-3, in second-chance points.
MU will face Cortland in the Rose City Classic, Friday at Drew.
