Box Score Nate Kreitzer scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures the Misericordia University men's basketball team's 90-71 win over Wilkes, Wednesday night on Doc Mould Court.
Joseph Baldachino had 14 points and
Kevin Lazdowsky added 13 points.Â
Nick Hornung had 12 points and 11 rebounds and
Derek Smith added 12 points.
The Cougars raced out to a 16-2 lead and never trailed in the game.
Kreitzer opened the game with a steal and a coast-to-coast lay-up.
After a Wilkes bucket, Lazdowsky answered with a driving lay-up to put MU in front for good.
Lazdowsky drove and dished to
Daron Pierre for a three-pointer on the left wing and Baldachino drilled a three-pointer from the same spot to give the Cougars a 10-2 lead just over three minutes into the game.
Kreitzer's steal and lay-in and two free throws from
Nick Hornung gave MU a 14-2 lead.
Pierre found Kreitzer for a lay-up and a 16-2 lead with 15:34 to go.
Wilkes gradually pulled with a point, 29-28, but Cougars rebounded and Lazdowsky nailed a pair of three-pointers including one from the top of the key to close the first half with MU up, 42-33.
Hornung scored six straight points to open the second half as the Cougars pulled away.
Pierre took a full-court pass from Kreitzer for a lay-up and drilled a three-pointer from the right corner to give Mu a 53-35 lead less than three minutes into the second half.
Baldachino followed with a three-pointer from the right wing to put MU up, 56-37, with 16:34 to go.
MU will visit DeSales, Saturday.
